Harish Narasimhamurthy initiated in July 2014 with a title Sri Shankara Veda Pathashale Trust with the benign blessings of Sringeri Acharyas & his guruji Ved. It is an ancient Vedic Sanskrit text, and part of the scriptures of Hinduism. Preservation of Sanatana Dharma and allied nervous system is the responsibility of every follower, which is also one of the key objectives of Sri Shankara Veda Pathashale Trust. The Samaveda is the Veda of melodies and chants. Our eternal Sanatana Dharma is based on the foundation of Vedas. The awareness of Personal Transformation through vedic vibrations has created a strong desire among global working / business class to make attempts of search for opportunities towards learning Veda Mantras. Further with the kind of dynamics in the lives of global population, the importance of Vedic recitation has phenomenally increased. The earliest form of organized Music that we know about is the Music of Sama Veda or the Saman. ![]() All but 75 verses have been taken from the Rigveda. ![]() One of the four Vedas, it is a liturgical text which consists of 1,549 verses. I was asked to say a little more about the music in Sama Veda hence this post. The Samaveda (Sanskrit:, smaveda, from sman 'song' and veda 'knowledge'), is the Veda of melodies and chants. In the current globalization context, very few people are in a position to learn Vedas in “Gurukula System”. Following my post the state of music in Ramayana, there was some discussion about Sama and its relation to music. Thus, Vedas are not mere books to be read, but a living tradition that can be learned and practised only by approaching a Guru – dispeller of darkness – well versed in Vedas and Shastras. Vedas form the bedrock of our dharma and are the breath of the Lord Himself. Sanatana Dharma is unique because it is “Apaurusheya” (not of human origin). ![]()
