![]() ![]() I recently got a Huion Kamvas 13 pen display for her, we're both very happy with it. My daughter has been using a Wacom tablet (Intuos 4) for years, and asked for a Cintiq but they are too expensive. Given that pen displays are getting much cheaper, I'd suggest going with a pen display since it acts as a screen so that you see where you draw, a much better experience comparing to a pen tablet. You have basically two choices: a pen tablet (e.g. Perhaps a tutorial on setting up pen tablet in GIMP might give a more concrete idea: It also allows you to customize the buttons on the tablet. The tablet driver also allows you to map whether the range of the pen input (as a mouse) is mapped to a single screen or to all screens. ) to recognize the pen as pressure sensitive input device (each software has its own settings to map the buttons and tips of the pen to various functionalities within the software. The tablet software is mostly just driver, allowing the Photography/Painting software (Photoshop, GIMP, Krita. Yes, but what does the Tablet Software offer? What Tools? Controls? Functions? Remember, I have never owned one or even seen one up close and personal. Its important to set your editor etc up for it to be able to take full advantage of the tablet. In my experience the software you are using is just as, if not more, important than the tablet software itself. I have to wonder whether the Wacom, Huion and other Vendors have had these concerns and thoughts and have designed in a Tool Interface to their products. ![]() I cannot imagine these tools being simple Drawing Tablets and as a former Computer Scientist/Engineer with a penchant for Art and Graphics, I know what I would put into these tools. OK.īut what I need to know is whether the Tools simply take pen strokes and pass them on to the application or whether they are supported by a built-in tool interface or an interface with a computer based support app that provides them with tools, such as Shapes, T-Square, French Curve, Protractor, Color Palette, Rotations, Vector Line and Curve Drawing, 3-D, etc. I know that these tools can interface to certain applications like Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher that support them. ![]() I have looked at Wacom and Huion products, but there is something I need to understand more. First, let me qualify that I do not currently own a Pressure Sensitive Tablet. ![]()
